I used the mural painting technique on a prepared canvas for this painting.
My idea has been to project the natural Shiva Lingam and the water from the jhora falling on the lingam as part of the hilly landscape. The cave is a secretive space for the yogis immersed in their dhyana and yajna, right below the lingam. The natural hilly steps on the left of the canvas lead up to the lingam.
This divine space ensconced in Nature is a vision that comes to a sadhak, and he may travel through his mind’s eye to participate and rejoice in such surroundings. Ordinarily such natural spaces in the Himalayas are not easy to travel to. For me as a painter and seeker, I travel to these hidden wonders through my vision which I carve into my paintings.
